Application Description:

Polychloroprene rubber (CR) can be replaced with Hydrin in a multitude of applications including industrial hoses, belts, and air springs. Hydrin fully meets ASTM D2000/SAE J200 ‘BC’ and ‘BE’ requirements.

Hydrin’s unique balance of properties (seen in the chart below) such as heat, chemical, ozone, and permeation resistance as well as it’s inherent electrostatic dissipative qualities make it ideal for applications that traditionally use CR.

Hydrin compounds show superior resistance than CR compounds at higher temperatures, including 168 hours @ 150°C, and have substantially less volume swell in IRM903 oil and fuel.

Hydrin and CR elastomers have very similar low temperature flex, and studies have shown Hydrin compounds match or exceed CR compounds in overall flex life.

Hydrin elastomers can be used to replace or supplement CR in both non-automotive and automotive applications, such as conveyor belts, and air ducts.
