Zeon Chemicals’ Zetpol HNBR polymers featured in Rubber World magazine
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Jan. 15, 2012 – An important article on a new generation of Hydrogenated Nitrile Rubber (HNBR) elastomers that result in improved productivity and reduced manufacturing costs appears in the December 2011 issue of Rubber World magazine.
The article, titled “Using Low Viscosity HNBR to Increase Productivity in High Shear Molding Methods,” is based on a paper by Andy Anderson and Mark Jones of Zeon Chemicals, L.P. – presented at the 180th Technical Meeting of the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society in Cleveland in October 2011.
The article demonstrates that this next generation of HNBR elastomers – Zetpol® EP – has the necessary processing characteristics to achieve improved productivity, which comes from taking full advantage of shorter injection times and higher molding temperatures. Zetpol EP features low viscosity and excellent process safety that can dramatically improve and simplify injection molding applications while maintaining high mechanical strength and very good compression set resistance. Details of this improvement are confirmed by analysis of various rheological test data and by demonstrating the relationship between these testing methods and the molding process.
